I confess, I leave jars of oil and other liquids out in the kitchen window and walk by them to see them separate, react, and change throughout the day. After years of doing this, I have come to realize that I am utterly and absolutely enamored by light and color, this is something that I know I must follow. My recent bodies of work deal with investigations into life through the lenses of microscopes and film. Translations of the micro and the macro through infinite patterns of cellular structure.

On a technical level, I am concerned with both the procedure as well as the documentation of how an artistic gesture is made, and the forms through which the two can co-exist. By thinking about both the process and the artifact in the same space, I am incessantly conscious of how I approach the surface of a piece. My work deals with light and projection, acrylics, oils, solvents and resins. On a conceptual level, I am thinking about the macro and the micro, the similarities between the structures that sustain life on a microscopic level, the ways in which the universe functions on a much larger scale, and all of the patterns of structure in between. I am interested in making art that leverages academic discourse that both defines and blurs technical and conceptual boundaries.
